Your Human Design chart is waiting... It's the key that unlocks the door to understanding who you truly are beneath all the conditioning, all the "shoulds" and all the noise.
But before you can dive into the depths of your unique design, you need to know how to access your chart. And more importantly, you need to gather the precise information that makes your chart uniquely yours.
What You'll Need:
Creating your Human Design chart requires three specific pieces of information. Think of them as the coordinates that pinpoint your soul's blueprint in time and space:
1. Your Birth Date
This one's straightforward- the day, month, and year you were born. Your birth date connects you to the planetary positions at the time of your arrival on Earth, which play a crucial role in your design.
2. Your Birth Time
Your exact birth time, down to the minute if possible as it's essential for calculating your chart accurately. Even a difference of a few minutes can shift certain elements of your design.
This is so important because your birth time determines:
Which Gates are activated in your chart
Your specific Profile lines
Your Authority (how you're designed to make decisions)
The nuances of your Type
3. Your Birth Location
The city or town where you were born helps calculate the precise planetary positions relative to your location on Earth. This adds another layer of accuracy to your chart.
What If You Don't Know Your Birth Time?
Take a deep breath - this is one of the most common concerns, and there are several ways to discover or work with this information.
Option 1: Check Your Birth Certificate
Many birth certificates include the time of birth. This is your most reliable source. If you have a copy at home, check it first. If your birth time is listed there, you're sorted!
Option 2: Contact the Hospital or Registry
If your birth certificate doesn't list the time, you can:
Contact the hospital where you were born and request your birth records
Reach out to your state or territory's Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
Option 3: Ask Family Members
Sometimes mum, dad, grandparents, or other family members remember the time. They might recall:
"It was just after lunch"
"Early morning, around sunrise"
"Late at night, around 11pm"
Even an approximate time is better than none. While it won't be 100% accurate, it can give you a starting point for exploring your design.
Option 4: Run Multiple Charts:
If you absolutely cannot find your birth time, run three charts using 8:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 8:00 PM on your birth date. See if your Type, Authority, or Profile changes. If they stay the same, you can use 12:00 PM as a placeholder.
A note of caution: If you use this method, be aware that some Gates and Channels could differ.
Option 5: Rectification with an Astrologer
For those who want precision but can't find their birth time, some astrologers specialise in "chart rectification"- using significant life events to work backwards and determine your likely birth time. While this is more common in traditional astrology, some Human Design analysts offer this service as well.

Decoding Your Chart at First Glance
Your Human Design chart might look complex at first and that's because it is! But don't let that overwhelm you. Here's what you're looking at:
The Bodygraph
This is the central image that looks a bit like a geometric human figure. It contains:
Nine centres (the geometric shapes)
Channels (the lines connecting centres)
Gates (the numbers around the bodygraph)
Some centres will be coloured in (defined), while others will be white (undefined or open).
Your Type
Somewhere on the chart, you'll see your Type listed. This is one of the five energy Types:
Generator
Manifesting Generator
Projector
Manifestor
Reflector
Your Profile
This will be displayed as two numbers separated by a slash (e.g., 3/5, 1/3, 6/2). Your Profile reveals your life themes and how you interact with the world.
Your Authority
This tells you how you're designed to make decisions. It might be:
Emotional
Sacral
Splenic
Ego
Self-Projected
Mental
Lunar (for Reflectors)
Your Strategy
Based on your Type, you'll have a specific Strategy - the way you're meant to interact with life and opportunities.
What to Do After Downloading Your Chart
1. Don't Try to Understand Everything at Once
Your chart contains layers upon layers of information. Start with the basics:

Human Design isn't just theoretical, it's experiential. Start applying your Strategy in daily life and notice what shifts.
4. Consider a Professional Reading
While free resources are wonderful for beginning your journey, a professional Human Design reading can provide personalised insights that go far deeper than any automated report.
A skilled analyst can help you understand:
